Understanding After Prakriti Determination in Ayurveda/Ayurvedic Living

In Ayurveda/Ayurvedic Living, the body's nature is called prakriti.

According to Ayurveda/Ayurvedic Living, prakriti is inherent in the individual, determined at birth.

Each individual holds a unique composition or portion of the doshas: vata, pitta and kapha.

Two of the five elements that are predominant will determine prakriti, which are either:

Vata dosha composition- Air/Vayu and Ether/Akash predominance.

Descriptors- promotes mobility or movement of the body, physiological and psychological swiftness and a thin or underweight body type.

Pitta dosha composition- Fire/Agni and Water/Jal predominance.

Descriptors- promotes transformation, digestion, metabolism, hasty temperament, oleaginous skin and a lean and muscular, athletic or moderate weight body type.

Kapha dosha composition- Earth/Prithvi and Water/Jal predominance.

Descriptors- promotes or establishes support in the body, stability, lubrication in the body, a reserved or calm temperament and a curvy, fullness in form or plus-size body type.

Prakriti signifies differences between one individual and another.

Each individual has different physical/physiological and psychological functions.

Once an individual is aware of their body's traits, they are able to better determine their body's type or nature/prakriti. In Ayurveda/Ayurvedic Living, the prior information supports maintaining health and balance, personally and publicly. Also, knowing the prakriti of an individual may assist in evaluation, diagnosis, treatment of dis-ease and dietary practices. The concept or design of prakriti in Ayurveda/Ayurvedic Living establishes uniqueness from other care or medical systems.
